Meaningful Match
1
ABOUT CANMMP
Mentorship designed to
go beyond introductions.
CanMMP is a free national initiative connecting Canadian medical students with physicians, residents and fellows for meaningful personal and professional mentorship that’s accessible, supportive and built to last.

01
Free & Accessible
CanMMP is a free initiative focused on making meaningful mentorship accessible for all medical students—especially those who may not already have established connections in medicine.

02
Virtual Across Canada
Mentorship is primarily virtual, connecting students and mentors across institutions and provinces. Pairs may also meet in person when appropriate and mutually agreed upon.

03
Thoughtfully Matched
We use a structured matching process based on your interests, goals, experiences and preferences—designed to grow into a consistent, long-term mentorship relationship.

Nationwide connections

Flexible mentorship timeline

Ongoing program support

“One meaningful match can shape an entire medical journey.”

How it works:
Complete an Application
Medical students seeking mentorship and physicians, residents, or fellows interested in mentoring complete a brief registration form describing their background, interests, goals, and preferences.
Get Thoughtfully Matched
The CanMMP team reviews each application and pairs participants based on factors such as specialty interests, career goals, research interests, location, shared experiences, and mentorship preferences. Matches are subject to mentor availability.
Meet Your Match
Once matched, both participants receive an introductory email with each other’s contact information, suggested next steps, and resources to help guide their first conversation.
Build a Meaningful Connection
Mentors and mentees decide together how often they would like to meet. Connections may be virtual or in-person and are designed to continue at a recommendation of at least one academic year, with ongoing support available from CanMMP.
